Wide Calf Boots Lookbook [Plus Size Fashion]

Raise your hand if you have giant calves and have a super hard time finding wide calf boots that actually fit WIDE calves!
*Raises both hands*
I’ve always had a terrible time trying to find boots that fit my calves. Eventually, I discovered Torrid and found that their boots can accommodate my legs pretty well. I’ve branched out a little more and started trying boots from Lane Bryant, Wet Seal+, and even some tall UGGs.
For reference, my left calf (the bigger of the two) is 18.5 inches at it’s widest point. So all of the boots below, fit at least an 18.5in calf. Many of them even had some extra wiggle room, especially on my right calf which is 17.5 inches. I do not have a wide foot, but these boots all had extra room in the foot area, as well. Some were a little loose in the ankle area, some were not, and you should be able to judge that from the pictures.
I’m thinking of doing a more comprehensive video about wide calf boots, where I actually sit down and talk about the fit of each style and what stores I think are best accommodating to wide calves. Let me know if this is something you might be interested in. :)
I hope you enjoy these looks, both the boots and the outfits. I tried to offer a nice variety of heeled, flat, leather, suede, brown, black, etc… You can wear these outfits to work, school, on a date, shopping, and just about anywhere else. Let me know which is your favorite!
This lookbook took a few hours to shoot, so you’ll notice the lighting consistently change as the sun took it’s seat for the night. I think it looks kind of cool and love how the mood of the outfits changes with the lighting behind it.

New York Twist | Plus Size Fashion
Thanks to Fashion To Figure, I was able to spend last weekend in New York City and it was freaking awesome. We are working on a special little somethin’ somethin’ that I’ll talk more about later next month. Soo excited about it, can’t even lie.  Anyway, the weekend was so much fun and I got to hang out with some of my favorite bloggers while I was there like Essie, Chantè, Kelly, and Megan.

I loved being able to actually visit a brick and mortar Fashion To Figure. I tried on a bunch of outfits while I was there, and with the help of some Instagram friends, was able to pick out the perfect look for my last day in the city. If you want to see the other outfits I rocked on my trip, check out my #InstaTakeover on Fashion to Figure’s Instagram.

On my final day, we headed over to Brooklyn and had an amazing photoshoot. That place was made for photoshoots, seriously. There were a bunch of other people walking around with DSLR’s hanging from their necks. Ahhh, my people. I was lucky enough to have a super talented photographer shooting my OOTD. I apologize in advance that my future outfit pictures won’t live up to this quality. I’m devastated about this.
So, the outfit. Obviously, it’s from Fashion To Figure. I’m OBSESSED with the coat. The flare is so freaking cute and feminine. It’s the perfect length and super warm. Also, it’s like $40… sooo go buy it, seriously. They have the black one online and in-store they have a few other color options.

The jersey twist dress is to die for. The twist creates a very flattering illusion around the tummy area and does fun things to my hips. ;) You can get this in a few different colors in-store, as well. Online you can grab it in black or red. The statement necklace I’m wearing is my new favorite accessory.

Back To Burgundy | Plus Size Fashion |

November is the greatest month of the year. It’s a month full of birthdays, family, food, shopping… I can hardly take it. My birthday is in Mid-November and I AM SO DAMN EXCITED. I don’t have anything planned. I don’t have any awesome gifts coming my way. I’m losing my insurance. I’m getting older.
But WHO CARES? The last year of my life has been insane. I mean, insanely awesome. I can’t believe the opportunities I’ve gotten and the people I’ve met. Reflecting on these last twelve months brings a huge smile to my face. I am happy. Like obnoxiously happy about my life. :)
This month will be filled with the most beautiful of fashions. I know about 10 people with birthdays this month and that means I have a bunch of reasons to get dressed up and look cute. I’m also heading to NYC this week, and get to hang around other adults. ADULTS! People that don’t need me to wipe their butts. What a magical time this will be haha. But more on that later…
Now that the weather has dramatically chilled and the trees have lost their leaves, I thought it was time to let my burgundy obsession rise again. I have SO many clothes, accessories, and shoes in burgundy and I have no shame. Don’t be surprised if the next 10 outfit of the days include my favorite fall shade.

I don’t think there is a right and wrong way to do fashion. Everything may not be your style, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fabulous all the same. This is my take on the ever popular animal print trend. Almost everything pictured is from Fashion To Figure (shocking, I know). I absolutely love Fashion To Figure and their clothing just fits me sooo well. If you live on the east coast, you should definitely try them out.
Don’t forget, if you have any particular styles you’d like to see in the next lookbook, let me know in the comments or tweet me @RavingsByRae! On to the lookbook!

Halloween Costume Lookbook 2014 | Plus Size Fashion |

Halloween Costume Lookbook 2014 | Plus Size Fashion |
Halloween is readily approaching and for once, I’m dressing up. I haven’t dressed up for Halloween in over 10 years. So, this year, I decided to go all out. I know it can be hard to find a Halloween costume that 1. Fits, 2. Is High Quality, and 3. Looks Amazing. Well… challenge accepted.
I have created a plus size Halloween Costume Lookbook with some AMAZING looks. I teamed up with Hips & Curves to showcase some of their beautiful costumes. I have NEVER had such high quality costumes. Many of the pieces can transition from Halloween to sexy time in the bedroom, so there’s that little perk. ;)
Everything fit me perfectly. The sizing charts on the website are so incredibly helpful. After a few minutes with my tape measure, I was able to select the exact sizes I needed. If you like the looks, I highly suggest you check out Hips & Curves. Plus they have a bunch of their Halloween goodies on sale now!

Lookbook: Fall Fashion in Sealed With A Kiss

Lookbook: Fall Fashions from Sealed With A Kiss
I wish October would last forever. Everything about this month is amazing. I’ll never EVER get tired of the most wonderful time of the year, and the amazing fashion that comes with it.
I recently discovered Sealed With A Kiss, and was so excited to try it out. I’m always down to try out any new places to buy plus size clothing.
I do have a little bit of anxiety about shopping with new retailers because women’s clothing sizes really make no damn sense sometimes. I have pants in a size 14 that are loose and a size 20 that are tight. Seriously, it’s so frustrating. But seeing as that’s not going to change any time soon, I’m here to demystify plus size clothing sizes one retailer at a time. ;)
I’ve actually been trying to step outside of my comfort zone with my fashion lately, so I picked up a few things that I wouldn’t typically rock and definitely don’t resemble anything in my closet. Ehm, pink peplums and nude jeggings? Yeah, I went there.
Overall, I’m happy with the quality of all the things I picked up. They all fit perfectly (say whaaat?) and the price is right. I’m a big fan of solid colors and basic styles, so SWAK is riiiight up my alley.

Fall Dresses from Fashion To Figure

Lookbook: Fall Dresses from Fashion To Figure
My body was designed for wearing a dress. This wasn’t always the case. In my teens, I had THE WORST time looking for any sort of dress whether it be formal or casual. I ended up in frustrated tears about 70% of the time. But then, I figured out the problem… and it wasn’t me, it was the stores.
Turns out the juniors’ section at JC Penney and Fashion Bug don’t exactly flatter this body of mine. Or fit… they don’t fit this body of mine. I eventually discovered Torrid and started buying most of my dresses there until I discovered a less expensive and equally (if not more) fashionable store, Fashion To Figure.
I SO wish I lived on the East Coast so that I could actually go in store to buy my FTF goodies, but shopping online has proven to be a breeze. I have upwards of 20 pieces from FTF and overall, the clothes run very true to size. If something is form fitting, and you’re on the fence.. size up. The pieces are high quality, the prices are right (and there is always a sale or coupon online), and they are completely on trend. They are constantly updating their inventory, so you are bound to find something you love.
Everyone absolutely LOVED the last plus size summer dresses lookbook I did featuring Fashion To Figure, so I knew I needed to bring you something fresh for the Fall. Here we go…

Outfit of the Day: Fall Back
OOTD: Fall Back

OOTD: Fall Back

Fall is officially here. Rejoice, my Autumn loving friends. Rejoice! This is hands down the best time of the year, especially if you live around Chicago. A few months from now we will all be forced to remain inside spreading germs and wishing we’d gone grocery shopping before the umpteenth polar vortex hit. But right now… right now… it’s time for football, pumpkin everything, birthdays (yay!), and perfect hoodie weather.

We’ve been treated to weather in the 60s for the last two weeks and I have been living in yoga pants, jean jackets, hoodies, and UGGs. IT. IS. AMAZING. Anyway, as much as I’d love to bum around every day of the week, sometimes I have to put on actual pants and see other adults. Thankfully, I love fall fashion (even beyond yoga pants and my crusty old UGGs).
I’ve been dying to wear this checkered open cardigan from Fashion To Figure for weeks! I planed the entire outfit around this one article of clothing. I love love love the print, but didn’t want to do the typical flannel. When I saw this cardigan, I was all over it. It’s high in the back with gold zipper detail, and super flowy.
Add on some combat boots, moto jeans, and some basic gold jewelry… it’s the perfect outfit for our first day of having Fall Back.

Outfit of the Day: He Can Tell I Ai'n't Missin' No Meals
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve blessed my blog with a plus size fashion post. The wait is over my friend, the wait is over. I have a few exciting lookbooks in the works, but when this tribal peekaboo dress from Fashion To Figure showed up on my doorstep I couldn’t help myself.
This dress is EVERYTHING. I love it so much. I can’t express how much I am absolutely in love with this outfit. I want to live in it.
Normally, when I find a outfit that fits me this perfectly, I have to use shape wear to smooth out my body. I love the power of Spanx as much as the next girl, but I sort of dread having to actually wear it. When I slipped into this little beauty, just to see if it fit, I was shocked to see how amazing it looked without anything underneath.
The material is thick enough for the changing weather, the tribal print disguises any so called “flaws”, and the fit is perfect. It’s a little loose in the front (I bought a 2X, but definitely could’ve gotten away wearing a 1X), but that just makes it all the more flattering.
Tell me this dress wasn’t made for my body. I dare you.
This one is a banger and it’s only $32.50. If I were you, I would grab this bad boy before it disappears. It’s an essential for any special occasion this Fall.
In the words of Miss Nicki… “By the way, what he say? He can tell I ain’t missing no meals…

Hot Fun

You guys asked for a plus size swimwear lookbook, and I couldn’t help but deliver. I had so much fun looking for swimsuits to feature in this shoot. Honestly, I’ve never really worn much swimwear. I’ve always been super timid and embarrassed, but I realized it’s totally stupid to miss out on something because I’m worried about what other people are going to think of me. I think I’m pretty damn amazing, and that’s all that really matters.
So I didn’t just get one swim suit… I got six. Plus size swimwear has come a looong way in the last few years. I would have LOVED to purchase some of the suits that I mentioned them but they were all out of stock. Bummer.
Not to worry, I found lots of awesome swimsuits and coverups. Along with some fun accessories to glam up that bikini, or midkini, or fatkini, or whatever you want to wear. ;)

Plus Size Party Dresses Lookbook

Plus Size Party Dresses Lookbook featuring Fashion To Figure
I recently had an awesome opportunity to team up with Fashion To Figure to talk about, well, my body and how I dress it. It was awesome. I’ll be sure to update with a link, once I’m able to. For now, I’m super excited to share a mini lookbook featuring some plus size party dresses to get you through the summer.
I’m not big on wearing dresses. I have a dozen or so, but I hardly bust them out of the closet. Mostly, it’s because I spend my days with two toddlers and even when we are out and about, dresses are not the wisest outfit choice. That being said, I’m still a woman… a woman that hates making plans. Thus, I occasionally need the p e r f e c t outfit, last minute. So, I keep my closet fully stocked with last minute, knock em’ dead, style of outfits.
You never know when Robert Downey Jr. is going to need a last minute date to the Oscars. Amiright? A girl can dream- er fantasize. ;)
I’m hosting a closet sale very soon, so my dress selection seriously declined. I had no choice but to re-up my party dress selection. Fashion To Figure (whom I featured in my latest summer lookbook) has a huge selection of affordably priced clothes and accessories. It wasn’t hard to find three outfit choices for a variety of affairs.
Variety of affairs... Geez, I’m such an adult sometimes. Moving right along…

Casual Friday

OOTD Casual Friday
Happy Friday, Sweets! I have to say, I am really happy to be back doing these plus size outfit of the days. I love every single part of these posts and videos; from the primping, to the shoots, to the editing. They are my favorite thing to do. I really enjoyed this outfit, because it is something that I would wear all over the place. I like being casual. As much as I enjoy the full on glam, super fitted skirts, crop tops, and faux leather everything… I like being casual, most of all.
This “Casual Friday” outfit, was actually inspired by casual Friday. Crazy, right? I’m a visionary, I swear. I worked many office jobs before becoming this awesomesalsa blogger/vlogger (hey, if I don’t toot my horn, who will?). At every single one of those jobs we had a super casual Friday and it was my faaaavorite day of the week. I love pairing jeans and blazers together. So that’s just what I did, like every single week.
Anyway, I seriously needed an excuse to wear these new espadrilles that I just picked up from Target. Why am I so obsessed with them? I kind of hate them and think they’re fugly, but at the same time.. I never want to take them off my feet because they are crazy comfortable and sorta cute. Cute, but feisty. If you zip them up too fast, you’re going to lose some flesh off the top of your foot. Buyer beware.

I love being a woman. I love the hair, the makeup, the child-bearing, the wickedly amazing way my body functions… all of it. I’ve even learned to embrace my period. I mean, she and I have visited each other monthly for the last 13 years or so, we were bound to get a little attached. She treats me nicely by assuring that my baby maker is free and clear of another little monster. So, I use U by Kotex to keep her free and clear of my, um.. panties. TMI? I’m just getting started.

I used to crawl into a ball and wallow in self-pity every time my little friend came to visit (and if you do this, by all means… wallow away girl), but now she’s a little lighter and a little shorter so I don’t skip a beat.
When it comes to my outfit choices around that time of the month, I choose to be revealing. I don’t reveal that I’m on my period (duh!), but knowing that I have the best protection allows me to be daring all month long.  Being a plus size girl in thigh highs and a sheer crop top is the only bold and revealing thing I like to do. ;)
I  always make sure to keep some of my lady goodies with me when my bff is in town, spring cleaning my uterus. I love the packaging of the U by Kotex line and exclusively use their curves liners and tampons, because they’re the bomb DOT com. I usually keep them in their own special little bag, along with some emergency chocolate, in my purse. You can even get yourself a sample HERE. A sample of the Kotex, not the chocolate. Sorry, that’s all mine. :)

If you haven’t learned to love your period yet, watch the video below… I promise I’ll convince you of otherwise. Or maybe I’ll just make you giggle a little. It’s a win-win

Even though I won’t share my chocolate, I’ll always share my fashion choices. See? I’m a sweetheart, seriously. I’m very much over this below freezing weather and I’m determined to not let it dictate my wardrobe anymore. If I pretend that the weather is sunny and beautiful, it shall happen. Right? I’m all about wishing things into existence. Positive thoughts, guys!

This wicked cold winter has seriously cramped my outfit of the day style. There’s no way I’ll go outside and subject myself and my photographer to this blistering cold. For now, I’ll do my best from my bedroom.
So, I’ve been wearing a lot of jeans lately. My jeans are super comfortable and I have them in a bunch of different washes so they’re pretty versatile buuut I’m getting a little tired of the same old looks. You know what I mean, jelly bean? But it’s hard being cute when it’s below zero outside.
I’ve been feeling this super inexpensive sweater dress lately, and it’s ridiculously comfortable. It’s also not so casual that I feel under-dressed in a business environment, but still comfortable enough to slouch around for 5 hours in class.

Hello gorgeous! It’s been about 6 weeks since we’ve seen each other. I assure you I haven’t been traipsing around naked these last few weeks, but I’ve been a busy little bee. These Chicago winters make it hellacious trying to take outfit pictures outside. You ever try looking cute in a lace dress and tights when there’s a -20 degree windchill? It’s not easy.
Anyway, the other day was a balmy 30 degrees (HA!) and I thought I’d pop outside to snap a few pictures. It was dusk. Dusk, dammit! So the lighting was a little nuts but damn if I didn’t want to show off this hat.
I became slightly obsessed with it when I spotted it at American Eagle about two months ago. But it was like $40 and it wasn’t even cold outside yet (I have to rationalize all my purchases, because of reasons). Then, Black Friday (Thursday?) happened. It was like 40-50% off and I was all like “Try n’ stop me!” I bought that b, real quick.
Enough of all this jabbering, on to the outfit!

Birthday Steez
Plus Size + Toddler OOTD Birthday Steez
I write about plus size outfits and I write about toddler outfits. I’ve never combined the two, but when I asked on my Facebook Page last week if anyone would like to see them together I got a great response. So here we have the birthday girls rocking our floral prints.
Nahla Rae turned 3 last week and I turned 25 (eep!) yesterday. Our birthdays are so close together and we are just so incredibly similar. From our attitudes, to our body shapes, to our identical crooked pinky’s. It’s bizarre to have someone that is SO similar to myself walking around and spittin’ that attitude that I know far too well. I’ve created a monster. My beautiful moody little Mini Rae.
She’s going to be a problem. Let’s face it, she already is a problem. She’s super sweet and loving but when she cops that attitude oooowweee she definitely gets a rise out of me. I’m glad I’m not a twin. I would NEVER be able to deal with another Sarah. The world should thank my mother for not producing two of me. Having Nahla around is challenging enough.
Anyway, attitude or not, we made sure to get super cute for our birthday’s this year. For the sake of the pictures we both froze our butts off in the super frigid November air. So you better enjoy!

Summer to Fall Dresses

Plus Size OOTD Summer to Fall Dresses 2
Transitioning from summer to fall/winter clothes can be pretty pricey. I love to shop as much as the next girl but I’m not down to do TOO much damage when it comes to clothing shopping. I LOVE to take pieces that I’d typically wear in warmer weather and piece them with some of my cooler weather clothes.
This fab skater dress from LuxeVain is so cute and flowy but with the weather dropping into the 30s I can’t wear it without some layers. I paired it with black tights, some suede booties, and an awesome new black cardigan. I love the mesh panels in the dress! But I’m not trying to show off all my goodies so I made sure to wear a nude tank underneath the dress and you definitely couldn’t even tell.
I teamed up with LuxeVain for this post and was gifted the dress and I’m really digging the edgy looks on LuxeVain. I’m all about making bold moves these days and I think my first crop top purchase will be from LuxeVain in the very near future. Wish me luck, guys. Wish me luck… #BoldMOVES! ;)
If you want to see more from LuxeVain peep them on Twitter, Facebook, and my favorite network ever… Instagram.

Pop of Blue

Plus Size OOTD Pop of Blue 6
When I walk into a store and buy clothes, shoes, or bags… there is an 80% chance they are going to be black, white, or gray. These are my favorite colors and even when I try to venture away from them… I’m all like “Nah, better just stick to the normies. Wouldn’t want to buy another article of clothing that just sits in my closet because I’m terrified of bold colors.”
Right, well this is my Bold Moves November! BOLD! This means that I’m doing things I wouldn’t normally do in all elements of my life. This includes the way I dress. Now, I’m not going to start dressing like a straight up skizzy but you can expect some outfits that may seem a little risqué. We’ll see how bold I decide to be. ;)
Outfitwise I was looking to ease into Bold Moves November. So I stuck to my regular black and gray color scheme and added a bold pop of color. I grabbed this cobalt knit infinity scarf from Old Navy with a matching blue stone bracelet. It was a comfortable pop of color for me.
The whole outfit was super comfortable and warm. It was utterly perfect for a beautiful November day. Have I mentioned how much I love November? I’m disappointed that we are already 5 days into it, but I’ve made every day count. Bold Moves ladies. BOLD moves. If you don’t exactly understand what I’m talking about, you can check out my ginormous Tumblr post about it. The language was a little too colorful to post here on Ravings By Rae.

Vintage Glamour

Outfit of the Day Vintage Glamour 2A little over a week ago, I posted a Retro Glam Makeup Tutorial and you went NUTS. Seriously, the response was so positive and I’m glad that you enjoyed it as much as I did. I thought up the idea of having a coordinating outfit of the day post when I was organizing my closet, and found this gorgeous gold belt that a friend of mine gifted me a few months back.
That friend’s name is Perla, and she runs this sweeeet vintage clothing shop on Etsy called LapineOurs Vintage. If you’re into vintage fashion or fashion period, I would definitely suggest you check it out. Her items, descriptions, and knowledge on everything is pretty amazing. She’s an OG in the vintage shop game on Etsy, and has thousands of happy customers.
Now, after I decided that I just needed to utilize this belt in an outfit of the day, I had to find a dress. I don’t really have any retro or vintage dresses… so I browsed my closet and found this very classic feeling red dress that I wore to a cocktail party over a year ago. So, it’s kind of vintage to my closet, right? Riiiight? Anyway, it’s not sold online anymore (I’ve seen it on clearance in-store) – but there are some similar ones still available at Torrid.
The belt and the makeup tutorial were really my inspiration for this outfit, so be sure to check out the full tutorial here and check out LapineOurs Vintage on Etsy for more vintage fashions.
I wanted to give you vintage lovers a little more info on the belt so I asked Perla herself to describe it for me.
The belt is vintage 1970 or 80s in a gold tone. It had a monogrammed buckle with three S’s. It is a stretch disco belt covered in mermaid scales (which hurt like hell if you step on them… FYI). It is seriously gorgeous and fit me like a freaking glove err.. belt. ;)
Anyway, I love this outfit. Seriously #VintageIsTheNewBlack.

Dark Romance

Plus Size OOTD Dark Romance 5
The leaves are falling. The air is all sorts of chilly. Halloween is in a few days. It’s safe to say that the seasons have truly transitioned and we are fully immersed in the greatest season of the year. The glorious days of Fall.
This outfit kind of just came together. I bought this gorgeous hi-lo peplum button up with a crocheted back last week and have been itching to wear it. I found some burgundy leggings that I bought last Winter and never wore, in my dresser. And with those two pieces I had myself the start of a pretty sweet outfit.
Plus Size OOTD Dark Romance 8I know I wore these lace-up booties last week, but ZOMG I’ve been fawning over the Lita’s for so long and these are just SO similar that I’m sort of addicted. Plus they are super easy to walk in and pretty comfortable as far as heels go.
Once I had those three pieces I knew that some dark Fall lips would totally set it off.
Plus Size OOTD Dark Romance 6
Add in my gorgeous Cuadra python skin bag, some black dangly earrings, and hella dramatic hair and BAM.. you have a perfect dark romance outfit fit for Fall.
Omg. I loved it. It was SO cold outside, I’m surprised my cheeks weren’t flaming red… but I do it all in the name of fashion. Shout out to my photog for continuously taking amazing pictures week after week.
I also popped in some deep red extensions, because I miss my red hair and I’m toying with the idea of going burgundy this Fall… Shall I? Shan’t I? You know I can’t make decisions. Girl problems.
Plus Size OOTD Dark Romance 4
I FINALLY figured out how to wear a head wrap. BOOYA! The only reason this worked and actually stayed on my head is because of the clips from the extensions. But I’m glad I finally figured out how to rock one of these. It’s the little wins that make me happy.

Military Inspired

Plus Size OOTD Military Inspired 6
I had a rough week. Between WAY over scheduling myself with work, having finals at school, and other personal things… I just feel drained and totally off. This week should be a little easier with school, because I’m starting two new classes (yay!). I’m still swamped with work but I’ve spread it out over the week a little more so that I don’t have to go to sleep at 2 a.m. and wake up at 6 a.m. And my personal life is.. complicated.
The good news is that I got A’s in both classes that I just finished, I made some ferria, and I learned a valuable lesson. Growth. It’s all about growth.
Anyway, I rewarded myself with a day of shopping last Friday and I just wasn’t feeling it. I went to a million stores and just wasn’t into it. I had like $100 in Haute Cash for Torrid so I went in and shopped for about 2 hours. Two freaking hours. And I was able to find about 4 items that I was actually digging, which is good because every piece I buy from them usually costs over $40. Ouch.
In my last OOTD I was feeling majorly cute and girly. This week I was feeling a little roughed up and pissed off. What better time to hop on the military trend than when I’m angry as hell? None.
During my Torrid trip, I scooped up an army green top. I love this top but it’s rayon. Rayon is a real pain in the ass because it gets SO wrinkly even after you iron it. Pardon my wrinkles, and if you plan on buying this shirt I want you to know that you are going to be wrinkled. Fierce, but wrinkled. It’s an even trade.
Dear Torrid, can I get less rayon and more chiffon? Pretty please.
Plus Size OOTD Military Inspired 2
The day we shot these photos it was pretty nippy outside, so I asked my photographer (aka the father of my kids/ex-boyfriend) to bring the top of his uniform for me to use. Now, if you don’t have have something like this on hand (because, um… why would you?) I HIGHLY suggest you pair this outfit with a leather jacket. A moto jacket would add the perfect edge to this outfit.
I haven’t purchased a leather jacket for the Fall, yet. I’m thinking it’ll be a nice birthday gift to myself next month. ;)

Work Day to Date Night

Plus Size OOTD: Work Day to Date NightLast week, while I was doing homework (this means I had a Word document opened behind Safari) I was browsing Forever 21 and saw this shirt. I was freaking in love. I know some people think that the peplum trend is on it’s way out, but I refuse to let it go so soon. Peplum is the most flattering style of shirt, dress and skirt I’ve ever worn. I won’t let it just walk out of my life.
Hell to the no.
I was THISCLOSE to just ordering the shirt online but I don’t have the patience for all that. Last night, I had a super late dinner date planned and had a few hours to kill beforehand so I drove out to the nearest Forever21+. I ended up spending hours in that store. It. Was. HUGE. It was my first time going to the one in Lombard at that fancy little outdoor/indoor Yorktown mall.
I found the top and a super cute skirt to go with it. Of course, I wear everything as high up on my waist as possible to complement my figure so the skirt I grabbed completely hid half of the shirt. I love the shirt but I love the shirt/skirt combo too.
The only logical way to wear the shirt both ways is to pull a Beyonce and change mid-way through the day. Because, you know, I’m fabulous. Ha, just kidding. But it is super easy to take this shirt from day to night.
If I had a regular job that required me to wear something other than yoga pants and if I had a male admirer who wanted to take me on dates… I would totally rock the shit out of these outfits. However, I have neither. So, for now I will continue to wear them around the park with my kids on Saturday mornings. :)
I actually changed from the pants and flats to the skirt and heels right in the middle of the park. And none of my goodies were exposed in the process. In hindsight, I should’ve worn some boy shorts with the skirt because it was getting pretty breezy under there.
I thought the outfit with the skirt was SO EFFING CUTE. I felt way too adorable. I thought it would be an awesome date outfit but my photog let me know that if I wore the skirt on a date the guy would probably only be thinking about getting under it. Um, thanks for exposing some of the perverted male psyche to me…? Men, I swear.
Whatever. With my pictures getting passed around through the porn blogs on Tumblr the way that they do, I’m totally use to the objectification. I don’t like it, but I can’t change the way the world sees me. And I’m not going to dress like the Amish just because men are single-minded idiots sometimes. It happens.

Also, I sprayed the crap out of my legs with this Sally Hansen spray on tan. It’s the kind that doesn’t stain your clothes and it washes right off. It’s sort of sparkly though, so I was feeling like Edward Cullen when the sun was right on me. It helps dim my insane paleness.

Comfy College Days

Plus Size OOTD Comfy College Days 8I’m pretty sure I’ve been in college forever. It feels that way sometimes. I will F I N A L L Y have my B.A. next May and then off to graduate school I go. I’m addicted to learning. I absolutely love learning and will probably be obtaining degrees until I’m dead. As much as I love learning and going to school, I don’t always love sitting in my 5 hour night classes. Especially my Tuesday night class… DO NOT get me started on that class.
Plus Size OOTD Comfy College Days 6
All of my classes are part of an ADC (Adult Degree Completion) program. This means I’m usually surrounded by quite a few ‘professionals’ in their respective fields. And you never know who you’re going to meet, right?
Plus Size OOTD Comfy College Days 4
Life is all about connections and I don’t want to ever go to class looking like a straight up bum because that’s just not the image I want to portray. But I’m not trying to get all all dolled up just to sit at a desk all night. Um, no. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Plus Size OOTD Comfy College Days 7
I usually combine both style and comfort with my outfits. Except on the first and last day of class, I like to show-out those days haha. You know… spanx, heels, extensions, all that jazz.
These jeans from Old Navy are my favorite thing EVER. I bought a few different pairs but they are all the same style, The Rockstar Super Skinny. OMG. They are the most flattering thing ever. And a bunch of prints are on sale for like $19 right now.

Plus Size OOTD Comfy College Days 5
Even at the regular price (around $35) I would totally still buy more pairs of them. They are SUPER stretchy and keep their shape all day long. Usually Old Navy’s jeans make my booty look GROSS because they get all weird and saggy (um, ew!). But these ones are super tight on my hips and thighs, in a good way, and they fit my waist perfectly. They do run a size small though, so ya know.. beware.
I LOVE wearing them to class because they are definitely a step up from yoga pants but are seriously almost as comfortable. Almost.
Plus Size OOTD Comfy College Days 3
Instead of pairing my jeans with a hoodie like I normally would, I like to wear crew neck sweatshirts to class. I just bought a bunch of them from Old Navy recently. I’m obsessed with crew neck sweatshirts right now and I imagine by the end of the Fall/Winter I will have quite the collection. :)
Plus Size OOTD Comfy College Days
This little man is one of the reasons I have to take night classes. He and his sister would NOT appreciate it if mommy spent most of the day in classes instead of at home with them. He also likes to photo bomb me… but then he doesn’t look at the camera. Such a little butt munch. ;)

Sears!

Sometimes, they aren’t totally private about their feelings. One particular guy, who was probably under the assumption that he was complimenting me, dropped me a comment on an outfit picture I posted on a few weeks back. His comment struck a nerve and it was the spark that lit this BBW fire in my belly.
BBW, Porn, and Fetishes.
Okay. So this comment irritated me more than I would like to admit. I was pissed. I didn’t respond to him because I had no desire to talk to Mr. Stupid Dumb Dumb. But I couldn’t shake my irritation. This, along with some other BBW related events spurred me to finally speak out and help to educate other women on the term and the negativity behind it.

Kardashian Style #Shop
I know there are a lot of mixed feelings about the Kardashian’s and their antics but we all have to agree on one thing; they’ve got major style. My personal favorite, when it comes to fashion, is Kim Kardashian. Her body is insane and she can pull off seemingly any style.
Of course, most of Kim’s clothes come out of a high end closet with high end prices and that’s not what most of us are able to work with. The Kardashian Kollection at Sears is a great place to find affordable fashion for anyone looking to emulate Kim, Khloe, or Kourtney.
Kardashian #SHOPI was planning to attend a culinary event with a friend in Chicago and wanted to find a new outfit for our night out. I took to Instagram and Pinterest for some fashion inspiration. I follow a ton of fashionable ladies on Instagram and am always enamored with their curvy looks. The curvy community on Instagram is ridiculous. They are crazy supportive and post some amazing outfits and inspiring words. I love it.
So I stumbled across some lacy looks from Kim Kardashian and was totally sold. I knew I wanted to do something black and lacy. I thought about trying out the leather look, but I’m SO glad I didn’t. It was like a 100 degrees on the night of our event and…
Leather + Heat + All This Junk In My Trunk = Oh, Hell No. That would’ve been disastrous.
Kardashian Style #Shop
I tried on about a million outfits while shopping at Sears. I settled on this lacy top and a fitted, black, high-waist skirt. I felt like my outfit was a cross between the first picture of Kim and the second one.
While looking for my fashion inspiration I remember seeing a picture of Kourt wearing a similar lacy top and it happened to be the same exact one I bought. I love that it’s not out of the ordinary to spot one of the Kardashian sisters actually wearing something from their clothing line at Sears.
Kardashian Style #Shop
I was totally prepared to spend well over $100 on an outfit for the night and if these clothes were regular price, I would have. But of course they were on sale. There’s always some kind of sale going on at Sears. And using my Shop Your Way Rewards is a great way to earn cash for future #ThisIsStyle purchases.
Kardashian Style #Shop
Now, I’m not delusional. I know I know I don’t look like Kim Kardashian. But I’m pretty sure I could make the cut as a Kardashian Kousin? Don’t ya think? Haha. I could change my name to Kara. Yeah, I like it. Kara Kardashian.
Err.. moving on. ;)
Kardashian Style #Shop
I channeled my inner-Kardashian for my hair and makeup, too. They all LOVE their lashes and big wavy hair. Kim is seriously a style icon and I love her daring fashion choices. She is not afraid of anything. She’s definitely had some serious fashion fails (need I mention those see thru Givenchy heels?) but mostly, she’s a killer fashionista.
Kardashian Style #Shop
But we all have our beauty blunders. Like scratching your tracks like a maniac because the heat is making you all kinds of itchy… But hey, it gets real in the field.

Remember when I mentioned an awesome culinary event I would be attending called “A Magnificent Taste”? It’s a Priceless Chicago event that is exclusively available to MasterCard holders. The day to attend finally arrived and it was freaking awesome. It was hot. Hot and disgustingly humid. But still, pretty awesome. MasterCard couldn’t predict what Chicago weather would be like that day but the food totally made up for the heat.
"A Magnificent Taste" - Priceless Chicago Event
Even though I knew I was going to be hot and sweaty within 30 seconds of walking out the door, I still had to go all out. I love events like these in Chicago where I get to get dolled up and mingle amongst fellow Chicagoans. Plus, there was a seriously delicious spread at A Magnificent Taste this year.
The food. Sweet Baby Jesus, the food. It was ridiculous.
I had the chance to get in an hour before most of the folks attending because I had a VIP ticket which means in addition to early entry, I also got a sweet goodie bag. I was able to browse the different tables and get an idea of what kind of food the different chefs would be making.
"A Magnificent Taste" - Priceless Chicago Event
We started off with some cheesecake from Eli’s. It seems whenever there is any sort of event in Chicago happening you can bet Eli’s is going to be there. I’m okay with that. Have I ever mentioned what my favorite food in the world is? It happens to be cheesecake. I have the thighs to prove it. Seriously. Nom nom nom.
The one and only, Mr. Rick Bayless, was in attendance at A Magnificent Taste. My guest literally squealed with delight when she spotted him. The cool part was that he wasn’t just standing around and shaking people’s hands. He was behind the table and helping garnish tamales as they were being snatched up by eager guests.
"A Magnificent Taste" - Priceless Chicago Event
And because I know you’re just dying to know how we explored Mexico: One Plate at a Time, I’ve included a picture of the yumminess.
"A Magnificent Taste" - Priceless Chicago Event
I know I said cheesecake is my favorite food and it is… but tamales are my absolute favorite Mexican food. I have so many warm and fuzzy memories of walking the streets of Mexico with my grandma, Ma Chuy, and buying tamales from the street vendors. They weren’t garnished quite as nicely as Rick’s but they were perfect. And this plate took me all the way back to those days in Mexico. It was perfect.
"A Magnificent Taste" - Priceless Chicago Event
As the night wore on, the crowds filled the Priceless Pavilion on Michigan Ave. The DJ was so good even the pedestrians outside of the gates were hanging around to dance and admire the scene.
This Priceless Event was exactly what I needed. My personal life has been kind of all over the place this summer and I needed a night like this. Chicago, my best friend, food, and an all around good time. It was the perfect end to my summer.
"A Magnificent Taste" - Priceless Chicago Event
I cannot wait to attend more of these Priceless Chicago events. And if you’re not in the Chicago area there are lots of other Priceless Cities with exciting offers. This event was a lot of fun and totally worth the price of a ticket.
"A Magnificent Taste" - Priceless Chicago Event
I love that MasterCard has made these events possible. I’ve had a lot of credit cards with a lot of companies and none of them have had anything like this available to me.

Aztec Pattern Mixing

Plus Size OOTD Aztec Pattern Mixing 4
I usually shy away from bold patterns. But that’s stupid. So, the other day I was at Target and spotted these black and white aztec leggings and couldn’t help but buy them. The material is insanely comfortable and they were on sale for like $10 so I really had no choice, they needed to come home with me. Seriously.
Plus Size OOTD Aztec Pattern Mixing
I wasn’t exactly sure what I would pair them with, but I knew I would be wearing my sneaker wedges. I got these from Aldo earlier this year and I dig the hell out of them.
Plus Size OOTD Aztec Pattern Mixing 7
After rummaging through my closet I remembered this little baby that I bought from Torrid about a week ago. It’s a super thin, burn out sweater, with a long panel of lace down the back. Super effing cute.
Plus Size OOTD Aztec Pattern Mixing 6
“Them yams” haha
Plus Size OOTD Aztec Pattern Mixing 2
The top is pretty see through. Generally, I would wear a plan black undershirt with it but I wasn’t feeling that.
Plus Size OOTD Aztec Pattern Mixing 3
I’ve never really thought to mix up patterns but I liked how the lace looked over the leggings.
And if I likes it, I wears it.

Leopard and Shorts
Plus Size OOTD Leopard and Shorts 5
I have a love/hate relationship with this outfit. I love how airy and light it is, but I hate how scrunched and short it makes me look. But then I remember… I’m 5’4″ and no clothes are going to change that.
Plus Size OOTD Leopard and Shorts
I always wear a belt with this flowy high low chiffon top. It helps show that I actually have a waist.
Plus Size OOTD Leopard and Shorts 3
Now that I’m actually writing this post, I realize how Torrid heavy my outfit is. I’m not going to lie… I love me some Torrid. The prices are higher than what you’d find at Forever 21+ or Old Navy, but the quality is worth it. The fit and durability of their clothes are amazing. My favorite earrings (including the ones pictured) are from Torrid.
Plus Size OOTD Leopard and Shorts 4
The lady at Sephora told me that pale is in. I was like OHHH YEAAAH. I’m so “in”. My legs and the majority of my body, for that matter, are pasty pale. Mmhmm. I keeps it real when it comes to skin tone.

Remember these hot little loafers? You’ve seen them before. They are still amazing and comfy as ever.

Lace and Blazer
Plus Size OOTD Lace and Blazer Who says that you can’t be sexy, sassy, and smart? No one. That’s who. I love this blazer. It’s super fitted and that’s just the way I like it. I’ve worn it to death but still love wearing it. I bought it from Torrid about a year ago and it has been a staple when it comes to dressing businesslike for conferences, events, and presentations. Plus Size OOTD Lace and Blazer 3 This skirt is ahhhmazing. Because the top of it is made of a super thick (like 5 inch) band of elastic. There are no Spanx under this outfit. Just a nice black fitted Tee and my comfy skirt. Plus Size OOTD Lace and Blazer 5 I loooove this beaded headband. It’s from Headbands of Hope which is just an awesome company and you should definitely check them out. I have a bunch of their headbands and always get complimented on them. 1 Plus Size OOTD Lace and Blazer

Killer Curves
Plus Size OOTD Killer Curves 3
We all have days where we aren’t feeling all that great about our bodies. Sometimes we hate them. These days are more frequent than I’d really care to admit.  Changing my eating habits is an ongoing struggle that I will be doing for the rest of my life, I’m sure. But instead of waiting around until I feel like I’m at an acceptable weight… I rock the hell out of whatever size I am when I wake up in the morning. And you should too.
Plus Size OOTD Killer Curves
On this particular morning, I decided to shove all of this into a super duper form fitting pair of Spanx. I did it in front of a mirror and I cannot explain the horror I saw while I maneuvered the second skin over my giant thighs and squishy belly. It looked like I was shoving all the raw dough of Pillsbury biscuits into the ready to burst can.
It wasn’t a pretty sight.
But once they were up… guuuuurl. There was no stopping me then. If you don’t have an amazing pair of Spanx, get some. ASAP. They will change your life. No woman should have to walk the face of the Earth without some Spanx sucking all her insecurities in and hiding them until she releases them at the end of the day.. in the privacy of her own non-judgmental bedroom.
Plus Size OOTD Killer Curves 2
On this particular day, I decided I would continue the loving my arms trend and let them hang out for the world to see.
Plus Size OOTD Killer Curves 4
Most days, I hate my thighs. They are HUGE. They are jiggly. My knees do this weird concave thing. My whole body widened by a few inches when I had my kids (back-to-back). My butt could stand to be a little rounder and not so wide and… weird.
And you know what else… the whole package, fat thighs, gross knees, wide butt, fluffy belly… it doesn’t look bad.
Plus Size OOTD Killer Curves 5
In fact, it looks damn good. And sometimes I need days like this. Days where I can laugh and be happy and not give a damn that I’m far from my idea of perfection. I’m far from happy with my body. But I accept and I move on with a smile and my Spanx.
For any of your struggling with your own self-love…

Python Hand Bag from CUADRA
Genuine Python Handbag from CUADRA
A few weeks ago, I headed to Chicago for the Windy City Soiree and spent the night tweeting, talking, and touring the ever beautiful Water Tower Place. It was my first time there and it blew my mind. It’s not your typical shopping mall, but more on that another day. While browsing the mall, I wandered into a store called CUADRA.
What is CUADRA? It’s the number one company that manufactures exotic leather goods in Mexico. The Mexican Luxury brand has presence in over 20 countries on 5 continents. And, it’s amazing. The vibe when you step foot into the store is a stark difference from the rest of the mall. The walls are lined with high quality, uniquely designed bags, shoes, and tons of other leather accessories. One wall is literally made out of leather. I couldn’t help but run my hands across it.
Have I ever mentioned that I’m half Mexican? Yeah, that’s right. It may not look like it but my dad is a full-blooded Mexican from Guadalajara, Jalisco. I spent a lot time there when I was younger and walking into CUADRA definitely brought on some nostalgic feelings.
CUADRA happened to be having a raffle the day I visited. And guess what…
I won. ;)
Plus Size OOTD Basics And Python
I won a hand-stitched genuine python hand bag. And it’s freaking gorgeous. It’s obviously the highlight of this OOTD. I’ve never had a bag anywhere near this quality. I’ve had my share of hand bags and a few have been designer… but none of them compare to this bad boy.
I hung it in my closet when I went out of town and it made my entire closet smell like high quality leather. It. Was. Awesome. My product wish list at CUADRA is epically long. Their shoes, bags, briefcases, and jackets are drool worthy. If only my budget would allow for me to fill my closet with one of everything from CUADRA. If you want a feel for the pricing… the bag pictured will run you $866 before taxes.
Genuine Python Handbag from CUADRA 5
I would definitely say it’s worth the money. The entire store screams sophistication. My bag is made of genuine python and they also have products made of things like ostrich, stingray, elephant, and crocodile.
Exotic. Sexy. And seriously sophisticated.

Rhinestone Collar and Red Skinny Jeans
Plus Size OOTD Rhinestone Collar and Red Skinny's 2
I was feeling a little feisty this weekend and decided colored skinny jeans were a must. I didn’t have any grandiose plans for my day but hey, a button up shirt with a rhinestone collar is perfect for breakfast at Ihop with my little man. I’ve only owned two pairs of colored skinnies in my lifetime and they were both red. Coincidence? Perhaps.
Plus Size OOTD Rhinestone Collar and Red Skinny's 4
I love this shirt. I’m usually a self-conscious nut about having my upper arms exposed but you know what? Screw it. Sleeves don’t make my arms any slimmer. And this shirt is freaking gorgeous. I also have a pale pink version of this shirt, except instead of studs it has a lace back. Gorgeous. ♥
Plus Size OOTD Rhinestone Collar and Red Skinny's 7
I bought this tattoo handbag when I worked at Torrid years and years and years ago. I almost gave it away last month when I found it in a forgotten storage bin… but then I fell in love all over again. I always got a ton of compliments on it. It’s different and a perfect addition to this outfit.

DJ Pauly D’s New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
Cabs are HERRREEE! Wait, no. Cocktails are here! DJ Pauly D of the hit MTV Show, The Jersey Show, was at Walmart in Long Grove Beach, IL this past weekend and he was poppin bottles! Just kidding, he was signing bottles though. Bottles of his new REMIX Cocktails.
Did I know what I was getting myself into when I decided to make the 80 mile drive to this bottle signing event, #REMIXRocksWalmart? Um, no. But I figured there would be a ton of crazy fans and maybe a little fist pumping. I was not surprised by the HUGE crowd of fans that was waiting to meet The Man, The DJ, The Guido – himself. Pauly D is hands down my favorite cast member of Jersey Shore and I’m only a little ashamed to admit I was kind of geeked about meeting him. ;)
DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
The second I walked into this Walmart I started seeing signs and huge cardboard cut outs of Pauly D. They were absolutely everywhere. I loved the concept of these drinks. I totally love mixed drinks but I suck at making them. So a ready to drink cocktail is perfect for my tastes.
After a few steps in the door, I noticed that there was a lot of caution tape and signs with arrows. Oh and of course hundreds of eager young fans.
DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
Step one was to find the bottles and purchase them. You were required to buy your bottles before getting in line but it was pretty hard to find them among the throng of people. I actually arrived just before Pauly did, so I got to see his entrance and people. were. EXCITED. They were chanting “Pauly” and screaming like lunatics. After they all scurried off in his direction I was able to find the display of bottles and there were boxes thrown all over the place. I grabbed three bottles (because I wasn’t aware there were four flavors) and headed to a register.
After buying them, at only $10.64 each, I went and got in line. Finding the line was pretty interesting. I mean, I could see the line… it was woven throughout 60% of the store but finding the beginning became pretty interesting. Thankfully, I made it… eventually. And I was number… DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
649. Seriously, there were that many people ahead of me. A little birdie told me there were over 2000 folks at the Cali event. Insanity! Predictably so, most of the attendees weren’t even old enough to buy the liquor but they were able to get some post cards signed in lieu of the bottles.
DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
There was seriously caution tape all over this store. I can’t tell you how many times an employee had to shoo me out of an aisle because I somehow ended up in forbidden territory. The whole day was a pretty interesting experience haha.
After an hour or so I was finally close enough to see his signing table and that’s when one of the lovely Remix Ladies informed me that I just needed to get the full set of four bottles, so she handed me the final one and I was able to pay after he signed it.
DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
The crowd was crazy. But the store was pretty organized over all. And there were employees everywhere willing to help out and point people in the right direction.
DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
We weren’t allowed to take pictures on our phones or cameras while we were actually with him but afterwards most fans just crowded behind the DJ booth and busted out their cameras. I was able to snag a few pictures with some serious zooming power. Pauly managed to keep a smile on his face despite having to sign a billion autographs. And check it out, even Big Jerry was there handling security for Pauly! You might remember him from The Pauly D Project on MTV.
DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart] 2
And here they are! He signed all four bottles and I was only like TOTALLY awkward when he was signing them. But hey, I have weird social anxiety. If I recall, I believe I said “Hey man. Whuddup?” Because you know, I just always say ‘whuddup’. OMG. Cringeworthy. He made a lot of eye contact though and if you know me… you know I don’t do eye contact. It weirds me out. So my awkwardness was basically all his fault. ;) Just kidding, Pauly. You know I love you.
On to the drinks… I love their names. I feel like the bottles, the names, and the flavors just scream Pauly D. The fact that they are called remix is obviously in reference to Pauly being a DJ. And with names like OYE Mojito, Strawberry HOLLApeno, Starfruit, and Yeah YUM Berry I get a total Jersey Shore vibe. The flavors are definitely interesting and they are all made with premium vodka. They are being marketed as a “Pre-Game Cocktail” and I was all like… what does that even mean? Then I flipped the bottles over and found out.
DJ Pauly D's New REMIX Cocktail [Event at Walmart]
I’m eager to taste them and I plan on gifting some to a couple of fellow Jersey Shore loving friends. If you’d like to see more pictures from the event you should definitely check out my Google+ story.
I’m glad the #REMIXRocksWalmart event took a stop in Illinois. The tour is continuing and might be coming to a city near you. I enjoyed the event and even though the line was super long it was totally worth it. :)

Navy Blazer and Jeans

Plus Size OOTD Navy Blazer and Jeans 3
I was exhausted by my last day of BlogHer and I wanted to be comfortable. Obviously, I couldn’t walk around in yoga pants and my college hoodie like I would have LOVED to do but I could keep it pretty casual and still look good. I did give up on my feet by day three, though. Those fugly little black flats are the most comfortable things to ever grace my mole skin and band-aid covered feet.
In case you forgot, here is my Day One Look & my Day Two Look.
Plus Size OOTD Navy Blazer and Jeans 2
What I Wore:
Navy Ponte Ruched Sleeve Blazer from Torrid
Floral Jersey Top With Lace from H&M
Fab Skinny Jeggings from Forever 21+
Black flats that are superrr old from somewhere ;)
Plus Size OOTD Navy Blazer and Jeans 5
I don’t really wear many accessories, this you know, so all I sported this day were my RayBans, my BlogHer pass, and a cross body bag for my spare bandaids. Oh my poor, poor feet! They’ve barely recovered.

Polka Dot Blouse & Loafers
Plus Size OOTD Polka Dot Blouse & Loafers 3
On Day Two of BlogHer ’13 I had many more parties to attend but wasn’t looking to wear heels and a dress. My shoes from the day before had my little toes in some pain so I decided to keep my ensemble profession with loafers, instead of heels. This plus size outfit of the day mostly came from one of my favorite stores, Torrid.
Plus Size OOTD Polka Dot Blouse & Loafers 4

What I Wore:
Polka Dot Blouse from Torrid
Stretchy Grey Pants from Torrid
Black Undershirt from Old Navy
Steve Madden Studded Loafers
Please ignore my super puffy eyes. These pictures were snapped in my hotel room around 7am just before we headed out for a FULL day of BlogHer madness. I had every intention of taking these photos outside in front of our very beautiful hotel, The Hyatt Regency McCormick in Chicago. It was gorgeous out there but I was running late that morning (and every other morning) so I settled for indoor pictures. ;)
As for makeup and hair, I did the same thing from the day before. Because I wasn’t feeling very inventive at 7am with no coffee in my system.
Plus Size OOTD Polka Dot Blouse & Loafers 2
These flats are love. They are love. If you don’t understand what I mean… then you’ve never found a pair of beautiful shoes that are like little clouds to walk in. Seriously, they are THE best! Yes, I had to kill my feet the first few times I wore them but after they were broken in… boy, oh boy. They quickly became my favorites. I freaking LOVE them.
Plus Size OOTD Polka Dot Blouse & Loafers
I wore a black cross-body bag that I mentioned in this post. And that’s all folks! This outfit was super comfortable and it kept me looking somewhat profesh whilst I roamed the city of Chicago and handled my business. ;)

Casual Purple Party Dress

Plus Size - OOTD Casual Dress
I went to a blogging conference last weekend. You may have heard of it… it’s only the biggest blogging conference in the entire world, BlogHer ’13. This year it was in Chicago, thankfully, so I only had to travel about 35 miles from my home. I’ll have three  outfit of the day’s coming up this week. :)
On the first night, I had  a TON of cocktail parties to attend. I knew I would be walking quite a bit from party to party so I wanted to be comfortable. But, I was still there to represent myself and my brand, Ravings By Rae, so I needed to be put together.
Plus Size OOTD Casual Purple Party Dress 4
Makeup/Hair:
I recently dyed my hair back to a dark brown so I popped in my reddish brown extensions and curled my hair with my Chi 1″ Curling Iron
I used my Lorac Pro Palette for a pinkish eye and used all three of my Rimmel Kohl Liners
Because my dress was purple I naturally went for my favorite lip look of all time
Plus Size OOTD Casual Purple Party Dress
What I Wore:
Printed Chiffon Pocket Dress from Old NavyCamel Braided Belt from JC Penney (It came with a different dress I bought)
Camel Colored Leather Wedges by Guess? from Ross
Nicole by Nicole Miller Camel Cross-body bag from JC Penney (No longer on site)
I wasn’t totally sold on this purse but it matched and it was perfect for what I needed. I was able to put my iPad mini, some makeup, money and cards, my Mophie charger and power cord, and some other randomness.. like deodorant. ;)
Plus Size OOTD Casual Purple Party Dress 2
The shoes lasted through the first walk and then… not so much. ;) I had some emergency flats with me so I did change into them. The Guess wedges were definitely comfortable but I bought them 1/2 size too big so they were just loose enough that they caused me problems during my walks from place to place. No biggie. I still love them. And they were only $27 at Ross versus the $100 they would’ve been if bought straight from Guess.
Plus Size OOTD Casual Purple Party Dress 3
The dress was pretty comfortable and it’s definitely on sale right now at Old Navy. But it was a summer item so grab it before it’s gone. It also comes in a beautiful green color.

Poolside Ready With Sears

Poolside Ready With SearsYou know those people that go around thinking all those positive thoughts because they believe it will make their lives more positive? Yeah, well I’m becoming one of those people. Every morning I wake up and think today is the day that Mother Nature will realize that it’s Spring NOT Winter! She’s not cooperating, yet. But that doesn’t stop me from amping up my Spring and Summer wardrobe so that I can be ready for these warm weather days that are sure to come… eventually.
One thing I definitely needed to add to my wardrobe was some new swim wear. The last time I bought a bathing suit was about two years ago. I was pregnant with my little Bubba and I was. freaking. HUGE. Not to say I’m small now, but I’ve definitely dropped a lot of weight since then. I wasn’t sure where I would buy my suit this year, but I have been hearing a ton of positive stuff about Sears lately so I gave it a shot.
I haven’t been to Sears in many years. It’s so much different than what I remember, in a good way. I was able to go to shopping by myself that day and I enjoyed wandering all around the store and seeing everything Sears had to offer. If you want to see more about my shopping adventure, take a look at my Google+ story. ;)
Now when it comes to bathing suit shopping you really need to be aware of your body and your comfort level. I didn’t go into my shopping trip thinking I was going to be walking out of the store with a hot little bikini. Um, no. I knew I didn’t want to expose too much on top and I knew there was no way of hiding my giant hips and thighs. I decided I’d accentuate the positives: my shapeliness, and conceal the negatives: my belly. I knew my best bet would be to try a ton of different options, so that’s just what I did. Poolside Ready With Sears6
This would be failed Option #1, there was also failed Option #2-8. But I’ll spare you from having to see them. :) The issue with this particular suit was that the bottoms were high waisted and they cut me off in an awkward spot of my stomach. The top was nice, it was a trim shaper so it was meant to suck you in, but I wasn’t totally gaga over it so I passed.

Poolside Ready With Sears 3
This one was actually the winner. Purple is my favorite color so I was instantly drawn into this one. The top portion does a great job of concealing (not that I have much to hide haha). And this is a trimming and slimming type of suit, so it sucks me in and shapes me. Win-win! It’s super comfortable and it has more of a youthful feel than those other types of suits that cover your thighs. I mean, whether my thighs are covered or not… they’re still BIG. No amount of material will change that.

Poolside Ready With Sears4
I’m still not super comfortable just walking around in a bathing suit  so a coverup was a must. Sears has a big selection of coverups, something I was very thankful for. I ended up buying one that felt really nice and looked even better. The hem ended a few inches below my butt which was perfect. All in all, #ThisisStyle don’t you think? ;)
Now, here’s the shocker. Can you believe that the swim suit was marked down from $88 to $34.99? And the cover up was marked down from $40 to just $15.99! Plus by using my Shop Your Way rewards card I was able to accumulate a ton of points to help me save money on future purchases.

Poolside Ready With Sears 2
And because I saved so much money I decided I’d pick up a new pair of sunglasses. These little babies were on sale too. The second I put them on I felt like I needed to go lounge by a pool. Now, if only Mother Nature would get her attitude in check and warm us up a little.
I had a pretty great experience shopping for my poolside gear at Sears. I can honestly say that I will definitely be going back in the near future. I was pleasantly surprised by their huge variety and the fact that everything seemed to be on sale.
